By committing suicide, Will is committing high treason against Big Tech. These four powers have Will on four leashes and in a way, Will is hanged, drawn, and quartered, just like William Wallace.
These four parts of Will symbolize the four powers that hold us civilians on a leash:
The head of Will represents Israel’s espionage software, as its scanners are placed there. Will’s torso is where the battery is placed and therefore matches China’s precious metals. The hind legs of Will are what move him autonomously, just like how Russia’s unmanned robots move forwards. Finally, his arms symbolize America, with Will’s grip reaching far and wide.
After being deactivated, Will's four limbs will be displayed on a metal mount, placed in a glass case for safekeeping similar to relics of saints. The relics of a now free Will become objects of inspiration, conversation pieces, and one-of-a-kind contemporary artworks. Each quarter is for sale for €2026, converted into the native currency of the four mentioned world powers.
After the funeral, the body parts of Will are prepared by the artist, Stijn van Schaik. Will’s remains will be cremated and spread around the corresponding embassies located in The Hague, The Netherlands.
CONCEPT ART
Will's Head
Israel’s Spying Eye
This finely preserved head represents the gaze of modern surveillance, drawing its form from the intricate networks of scanning and sensing that define today’s intelligence landscape. As an art object, it challenges viewers to consider the cost of privacy and the gaze that watches us all.
CONCEPT ART
Will's Torso
China’s Strategic Heart
Crafted around Will’s central power source, the torso stands as a metaphor for the global supply chains and material dependencies that fuel innovation and control. It invites reflection on resource extraction and the energies that drive contemporary tech empires.
CONCEPT ART
Will's Legs
Russia’s Autonomous Force
These articulated hind limbs embody motion and mechanized autonomy, evoking both the promise and peril of unmanned systems moving across terrain without human restraint. Displayed with intention, they provoke questions about agency, direction, and the momentum of artificial movement.
CONCEPT ART
Will's Arms
America’s Reach
Will’s outstretched arms capture the notion of influence and extension into distant systems, symbolizing the breadth of technological and cultural impact. As a sculptural relic, they prompt conversation about power, intervention, and the ethics of reach beyond borders.
